Website maintenance in Barcelona: your website up-to-date, secure and fast

Updates, backups, antimalware and real support from €30/month, so you don't have to remember.

A website isn't a picture you hang up and that's it. It's software connected to the internet: it updates, breaks, is attacked, and slows down. Maintenance is the difference between discovering a problem yourself and a client finding out. We have our own team in Barcelona, no long-term contract, and the same team that does the... web development behind.

A website that isn't maintained doesn't stay the same: it gets worse.

The scene repeats itself every month. A website that was built three years ago, that worked perfectly, and then one day it stops loading. Or it starts displaying strange ads. Or the contact form hasn't sent anything for months and nobody had noticed.

It's not bad luck. A website is a collection of moving parts: the content management system, plugins, theme, server PHP version, payment gateways, certificates. Each part updates independently, and when too much time passes between updates, the gap is so large that something breaks.

With WordPress, there's an added factor: it powers a huge portion of the world's websites, and precisely for that reason, it's the most attacked CMS on the planet. We're not talking about a hacker targeting you directly. We're talking about bots that roam the internet around the clock, testing outdated versions of popular plugins. If your website hasn't been touched in two years, sooner or later it's going to be targeted.

Maintaining a website isn't exactly glamorous: log in every week, update it thoughtfully, check that everything is still working afterward, keep a good backup, and make sure it stays fast and up-to-date. Boring, yes. And that's precisely what prevents frustration.

What does maintenance include?

What we do on your website every month, whether you see it or not.

Controlled updates

WordPress, plugins, theme, and PHP version are all up to date. We update using a backup and then double-check that the website remains intact: forms, menus, shopping cart, and key pages. If an update breaks anything, we fix it or revert to the previous version.

Backups

Weekly or daily backups, depending on your plan, including files and database, are stored off-site. And importantly, we verify that they can be restored. A backup that no one has tested is not a backup.

Security and antimalware

Firewall, blocking of access attempts, malware scanning, and cleanup if necessary. We review users, permissions, and old access records, which are often the most common entry point on websites that have changed hands multiple times.

Speed optimization

Caching, image compression, database cleanup, and removing unused plugins are all essential. A slow website loses visitors before they even see the first page of text, and Google takes this into account on mobile devices.

Fall monitoring

Automatic website monitoring. If it goes down, we get an alert and address it. We usually detect the issue and start working on it before a customer even calls to say it's not loading.

Support and incidents

One email and you'll speak directly with the person who maintains the website, not with a support ticket. We resolve errors, minor changes, and those unexpected issues that pop up. No middlemen or automated responses.

What happens when nobody touches the website for two years

These aren't hypothetical scenarios. These are the five calls we receive over and over again:

  • Hacking. Someone injects code into your website to sneak in casino links, redirect visitors to another site, or send spam from your domain. By the time you find out, your server is already blacklisted and your emails are going straight to spam.
  • Fall without warning. A poorly applied update, an expired certificate, or a hosting failure. The website is down for hours or days, with the forms and store unresponsive, and nobody raises the alarm.
  • Data loss. The moment you need a backup is when you discover there wasn't one, that it was eight months old, or that it was on the same server that crashed.
  • Drop in Google rankings. 500 errors, slow pages, injected content, or a compromised site warning in your browser. Recovering what's lost costs far more than preventing it, as anyone who's ever done this will tell you. SEO.
  • Bad image. A customer who walks in and sees a red safety warning, the wrong year on the footer, or a phone number that no longer exists. They're not going to tell you: they'll go to the competition.

Fixing any of these five things always costs more than a year's maintenance fee. And some, like search engine optimization, take months to recover.

We don't have to have created the website ourselves.

Most of the websites we maintain were created by someone else. Sometimes by an agency that went out of business, sometimes by a freelancer who stopped responding, sometimes by a well-intentioned relative. We don't care who created it: if it's still up, we maintain it.

Before we begin, we'll do an initial review and explain the situation clearly: which plugins are unnecessary, what's outdated, if there are backups, if there are any security vulnerabilities, and what needs to be addressed first. If we find anything serious, we'll provide a separate quote, and you can decide. You'll never receive an invoice for anything you haven't approved.

We work with WordPress y WooCommerce, with PrestaShop and with custom developments. We also manage your website if we handle your SEO or marketing campaigns, which is convenient: a single point of contact for everything. You can see the rest of what we do on our website. services.
